The core concepts of "The Secret" and the "Law of Attraction" were first written about in the early 1900's by a guy named Charles Haanel, and "The Secret" is essentially a commercialization of his work. Haanel wrote a fantastic book called "The Master Key System." If you're ever on a long drive, listen to it in audio format; you can get it from any bookstore
You can download a free .pdf of the book here (it is in the public domain), so you can study the subject from the horses mouth, rather than a commercial representation.
